We have read and learned all about George Washington Carver this week. This interesting story has led us to a study of biographies. The students checked out a biography for their next reading project, and it must be read by Wednesday, March 7th.(If you would like to check out a different biography from the public library, that is fine. Remember it has to be a chapter book.)
We will begin glogs for this project in class on Wednesday, and we will work on them at school March 7th and 8th. Then, the students will present them on Friday, March 9th dressed as the person they are reading about or the students can use a visual aid with some type of sketch or drawing representing that person. (A rubric will be sent home by March 2nd with all the requirements.) Please check daily to see if your child is keeping up with the reading for this assignment.
The students brainstormed some interesting topics today. We will finalize our topics and groups tomorrow, and we will get started on the projects next week. The students have the project planners that we will work on at the beginning of next week. This will help keep them focused. Please check weekly to see what progress is being made. The projects for exhibition will be presented April 6th so they should be completed by April 4th.
Energy and Westward Movement/Expansion
There will also be a project of some type on each of these topics. I am not exactly sure what it will be yet, but it will be completed in class.
*Remember to check your child's eagle daily. He/she is responsible for writing down any due dates, etc. in the agenda.
